As refugees and migrants poured across the Balkan Route in 2015 and 2016, Roda worked with UNICEF to provide support for families, especially parents with young children. Roda's role was to provide breastfeeding support and assistance to those mothers and babies who needed it, but also to provide a safe space for families running from conflict.
Many lessons on protecting and promoting breastfeeding during humanitarian disasters were learned, and many were not. This unique experience was summarised in a publication that will be of assistance to all people facing humanitarian disasters that include large numbers of parents and children.
