In March 2014 Roda and the Croatian Association for the Promotion of Midwifery (HUPP) (LINK www.hupp.hr) wrote to the European Parliament Committee on Petitions about the lack of implementation of Directives and legislation on midwifery in Croatia, which has effectively removed the possibility of women seeking out midwifery care and midwives opening their own practices.
This petition was mentioned in a comment made by the Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights in July 2016 when discussing problems in accessing choice and quality, respectful maternity care.
