Online presentation of MOMental project gathers Ukrainian experts and organisations
The Ukrainian Midwives’ Union organised an online presentation of the project MOMental – Cross-Border Collaboration for Maternal Mental Health in Crisis Settings, inviting experts, organisations and other stakeholders working in the field of maternal and perinatal health to learn more about the initiative and explore opportunities for collaboration.
The online meeting, held via Zoom, brought together professionals interested in strengthening support systems for mothers and infants in crisis contexts. During the presentation, participants were introduced to the goals of the MOMental project, which focuses on improving knowledge exchange, strengthening organisational capacities, and developing practical educational tools for professionals working with mothers.
The discussion focused on identifying key challenges within Ukraine’s maternal mental health support system in crisis settings. Participants explored which groups of mothers with young children are currently most vulnerable, what barriers prevent mothers from seeking help even when services exist, and how effectively different sectors cooperate in providing support.
Special attention was given to the needs of professionals working with mothers in crisis contexts, including the knowledge, skills, and practical tools they may lack. Participants also reflected on which types of support formats — such as online services, group support, or crisis interventions — work best in practice.
The meeting also provided space to discuss how an online platform and digital learning tools, planned within the MOMental project, could support professionals and organisations working with mothers and young children in crisis situations.
Through dialogue with stakeholders, the MOMental project aims to ensure that the future training programmes and tools developed within the project respond to real needs identified in practice.
