On Thursday and Friday, April 23 and 24, 2024, the third international training within the project “CHILD TRUST – CHILDren visiting parents – TRaining EU prison STaff” is taking place in Croatia. The training brought together representatives of civil society organizations and prison staff from Italy, Croatia, Poland, and France.
On the first day of the training, participants visited the Požega Penitentiary. After welcome speeches by the Minister of Justice and the warden of the penitentiary, as well as a brief introduction of the civil society partner organizations, participants attended a lecture titled Salutogenesis and rehabilitation: How space can support rehabilitation, and toured the facility.
In the afternoon, they shared their impressions of the day, discussing practices within the penitentiary and the way visiting areas are organized—especially spaces for children’s visits and areas where incarcerated mothers stay with their children.
On Friday, the training continues in Zagreb.
Project partners participating in the training include Bambini senza sbarre (Italy), RODA – Roditelji u akciji (Croatia), Relais Enfants Parents France (France), and Małopolska udruga Probacja (Poland), as well as prison staff from these countries.
