Roda's vision is a society that actively works to fulfil the needs of and protect the rights of children, parents, future parents and families as a whole, including the right to autonomy and informed choice. Roda's vision includes equal opportunities and access to services for all parents, children and families, in whatever form they come in, including those from marginalized and at-risk groups, including but not limited to ethnic and sexual minorities, incarcerated parents and more.
Roda's mission is to transform society to act responsibly towards children, parents, future parents and families – especially mothers - through information, education, active lobbying and inclusion in the processes of change, as well as encouraging parents and other societal groups to question the status quo and be part of change.
Values and working principles
We believe that:
- Children have full and equal rights as members of the society. Children have the right to optimal conditions for growth and development.
- Parents are capable of competent parenthood.
- Individuals have the right to an informed choice based on knowledge.
We actively work on changing the system, not adapting to it.
We put a special emphasis on prevention and try to forestall problems.
We are open to cooperation with others.
We promote tolerance and acceptance of differences.
We aim for consistency in ethical fundraising, not accepting funds from industries whose products and marketing are not in accordance with our values.
