Changes in models of care for pregnant and birthing women are needed throughout the world and indeed in Croatia. But how can we bring together the opinions of parents, positive and evidence-based practices from other countries and healthcare professionals from Croatia and the wider region central and southeast Europe?
This year's conference, under the auspices of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia, reBIRTH 2013 - Challenges and Trends in Maternal Care in Croatia and the European Union has been organised precisely with this in mind - to create a bridge between healthcare professionals and healthcare users, to raise awareness among both groups about various practices models of care used in different parts of the world with excellent results. All models of care have for a goal a healthy mother and healthy child, but the models we will present arrive at that goal with a more humane, evidence-based and choice-based approach to pregnancy, birth and postpartum, an approach that is unfortunetly not the norm in Croatia and surrounding countries.
